Abstract:
This paper analyses the risk that an individual contracts the AIDS virus in terms of the number of sexual contacts and the number of different partners. It considers the effect of the variability of susceptibility and infectiousness on the evaluation of this risk. In particular, it shows why this variability leads to a greater risk from multiple partners than previously thought.
