Summary
Secondary acute myeloid leukemia (sAML) has a poor prognosis and is rarely curable. This study analyzed 574 AML cases, finding sAML patients are older, have worse outcomes, and lower remission rates than primary AML.

Background:
- Secondary acute myeloid leukemia (sAML) originates from prior hematologic disorders (myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic myeloproliferative neoplasia) or exposure to leukemogenic agents.
