Guidelines for Writing Outcome01:11

Guidelines for Writing Outcome

When developing expected outcomes for a patient care plan, the nurse should adhere to the following recommendations:
Patient outcomes reflect the patient's response to the goal rather than what the nurse aims to achieve. Terminology should be observable and measurable to avoid the reader's interpretation. The desired outcome should be realistic and achievable in the designated care timeframe. Expected outcomes should align with adjunctive therapies. The outcome should enhance care evaluation by...

Area of Science:

  • Reproductive Medicine
  • Clinical Quality Improvement

Background:

  • Recurrent miscarriage (RM) is a complex clinical issue.
  • Evidence-based guidelines exist, but adherence monitoring is needed.
  • Quality indicators are essential for assessing care in RM patients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop valid quality indicators for recurrent miscarriage (RM) care.
  • To assess the relationship between guideline evidence level and indicator acceptance.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized the RAND-modified Delphi method with 11 gynecologist experts.
  • Appraised recommendations from the Dutch guideline on RM.
  • Selected 23 key recommendations covering diagnostics, lifestyle, therapy, and counseling.

Main Results:

  • A set of 23 quality indicators for RM care was generated.
  • All Level A (high) and Level D (consensus) recommendations were accepted as indicators.
  • Acceptance rates were 64% for Level B and 22% for Level C recommendations.

Conclusions:

  • The study successfully created 23 quality indicators for recurrent miscarriage (RM) management.
  • The acceptance of all consensus-based recommendations underscores their clinical significance.
  • These indicators can help measure and improve the quality of care for couples experiencing RM.
