Abstract:
E. I. du Pont de Nemours, Inc., was founded 170 years ago primarily as a manufacturer of gunpowder. The Company has since diversified into numerous technological areas, and its long list of products now includes many having application in the optics field. In this introduction a brief review of past Du Pont optics work is given.
