  • The patient was diagnosed with B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (B-PLL).

Findings:

  • The patient's B-PLL cells expressed the CD5 antigen.
  • Surface marker analysis confirmed CD5, CD19, CD20, and sIgM positivity.
  • CD23 and cyclin D1 were negative via immunostaining.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the aberrant expression of CD5 in B-cell malignancies.
  • Further research into the role of CD5 in B-cell leukemia pathogenesis is warranted.
  • Understanding CD5 expression may aid in diagnosing and classifying B-cell disorders.
