Transformations of Functions III01:20

Transformations of Functions III

Transformations modify the graphical representation of a function without changing its fundamental form. One common transformation is reflection, which flips the graph across a designated axis. When the vertical coordinates of all points are multiplied by the negative one, the entire graph is mirrored over the horizontal axis. This transformation reverses the vertical orientation of peaks and troughs, akin to signal inversion in electrical systems, where a waveform is flipped, but the timing of...

    Summary

This study presents an integrated system for rapid, high-quality, and cost-effective hard copy generation of processed optical images. The developed system achieves interactive image hard copy production in just 54 seconds.

    Area of Science:

    • Computer Science
    • Image Processing
    • Optics

    Background:

    • High-quality, inexpensive hard copy output is crucial for optical image digital data processing.
    • Existing systems often lack speed, quality, or cost-effectiveness.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop an interactive system for fast, high-quality, and inexpensive hard copy generation of processed optical images.
    • To interface a camera system with a graphic computer for efficient image output.

    Main Methods:

    • Interfacing a Cambo camera (150-mm Xenotar lens, Copal shutter, Graflok back) with an Adage AGT-30/Electro-Mechanical EMR 6050 graphic computer system.
    • Utilizing time-lapse photography and log-to-linear voltage transformation for image processing.
    • Incorporating a Tektronix 4002 graphic computer terminal for interactive control and hard copy output.
