Summary

Revascularization of challenging infrainguinal vessels is improved with the novel CROSSER catheter system. This device successfully treated complex arterial occlusions, reducing complications and offering new treatment options for peripheral vascular disease.

A Modified Heterotopic Swine Hind Limb Transplant Model for Translational Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation (VCA) Research

Background:

  • A novel percutaneous device, the CROSSER catheter system, was utilized in two patients with peripheral vascular disease.
  • Case 1 involved restoring anterior tibial artery patency in a diabetic foot.
  • Case 2 focused on revascularizing a chronic traumatic occlusion of the superficial femoral artery.

Findings:

  • The CROSSER catheter system successfully recanalized complex lesions in both patients.
  • Procedures were completed in a short time with no procedure-related complications.
  • The device demonstrated the ability to overcome technical difficulties in infrainguinal revascularization.

  • The CROSSER catheter system may reduce the need for reentry devices and retrograde distal accesses.
  • This technology offers promising new therapeutic possibilities for complex below-the-knee arterial lesions.
