Abstract:
An 11-year-old girl developed blisters on her fingers after wiping up spilled nail polish remover. This reaction and other adverse effects and hazards of polish removers are reviewed. In addition to blister formation, polish removers may cause irritant and allergic contact dermatitis, onycholysis, paronychia, and brittleness. They represent a fire hazard and may cause systemic toxicity following excessive inhalation.
