Aseptic meningitis in children
Abstract:
Aseptic meningitis is an acute inflammation of the meninges that can be caused by a number of different etiological agents. During the acute phase of the illness, the child demonstrates major neurological symptoms. Nursing interventions are mainly supportive and based not only on the child's presenting symptoms, but also on the child's developmental needs. Parent teaching and support by nurses during the child's hospitalization is essential.
