Background:

Health care preceptors in Saskatchewan requested standardized orientation.
The Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) initiative aimed to support preceptor education goals.
Interprofessional patient-centered education was a key focus for healthcare professionals.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and deliver common interprofessional preceptor orientation sessions.
To foster collaborative learning and practice among healthcare professionals and students.
To enhance students' understanding of professionalism through interprofessional interactions.

Main Methods:

Delivered two interprofessional orientation sessions to 80 preceptors.
Sessions were held in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Each session was 2-3 hours long, facilitated by experienced faculty.

Main Results:

The initiative provided a structured approach to interprofessional preceptor training.
Facilitated discussions on collaborative learning and practice.
Aimed to improve the quality of student experiences with preceptors.

Conclusions:

The SIAST initiative successfully delivered interprofessional orientation sessions.
The program supported the goals of preceptor education and interprofessional practice.
