Genetic alterations involving echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4 (EML4)-anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inversion are key in lung cancer. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) effectively screens for EML4-ALK inversion in pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
