Summary

High-pressure mechanical ventilation (MV) in piglets caused lung injury similar to adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Aggressive ventilator settings, including high peak inspiratory pressure (PIP), led to severe hypoxemia and histopathologic changes.
