Process and outcome components of clinical nurse specialist consultation

The need to document Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) effectiveness and impact is critical during these times of cost-containment. This study examines both the process and the outcomes achieved by the critical care CNS in the consultant role. Findings support the CNS's contribution to positive patient outcomes, provision of high-quality care, and development of staff nurse excellence in practice in various critical care settings.
