  • Seventy-eight patients with sexual disorders (Sexual Desire Disorder, Erectile Disorder, Orgasmic Disorder, Premature Ejaculation) were assessed.
  • Fifty-six sexually functional individuals served as controls.
  • The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) was administered to all participants.

Main Results:

  • Patients with Sexual Desire Disorder and Erectile Disorder exhibited the most disturbed psychological profiles.
  • Patients with Orgasmic Disorder and Premature Ejaculation showed psychological profiles within normal limits.
  • Individual profile fitting was successful for Sexual Desire Disorder, enabling clinical interpretation, but not for Premature Ejaculation or Orgasmic Disorder.

Conclusions:

  • Sexual Desire Disorder and Erectile Disorder are strongly associated with significant psychological distress.
  • Orgasmic Disorder and Premature Ejaculation appear less related to generalized psychological disturbances.
  • Psychological assessment, particularly using the MMPI, can help differentiate and inform clinical interpretation for specific sexual disorders.
