    Summary

    Surgical removal of pupillary membrane remnants effectively restored vision in a young woman. The procedure was successful, with no complications and improved visual acuity in both eyes.

    Background:

    • Persistent pupillary membrane (PPM) can cause decreased visual acuity.
    • Congenital pupillary membranes are rare but can significantly impact vision.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of surgical excisional removal of bilateral pupillary membrane remnants.
    • To assess postoperative visual outcomes and complications in a patient with bilateral PPM.

    Main Methods:

    • A 21-year-old female patient with bilateral poor visual acuity underwent surgical excision of pupillary membrane remnants.
    • The excisional removal was performed sequentially in each eye, one week apart.

    Main Results:

    • Postoperative examination revealed a completely clear pupillary area in both eyes.
