    Summary

    This study found no link between twin zygosity and pre-eclampsia risk in 417 twin pregnancies. The results do not support the idea that immune system differences cause pre-eclampsia in twin gestations.

    • The role of maternal-fetal immune interactions in pre-eclampsia etiology is debated.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between twin zygosity and pre-eclampsia incidence.
    • To evaluate the hypothesis that immuno-incompatibility contributes to pre-eclampsia in twin gestations.

    • A retrospective survey of 417 twin pregnancies.
    • Analysis of pre-eclampsia incidence stratified by twin zygosity (dizygotic vs. monozygotic).
