Summary

Nephrologists can successfully insert Tenckhoff catheters using open surgical dissection. This method shows a 2-year catheter survival rate of 87.2% with a favorable safety profile for peritoneal dialysis patients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the outcomes and safety of Tenckhoff catheter insertion performed by nephrologists.
  • To assess the feasibility of using an open dissection surgical technique in a ward-based setting.

  • A single-center retrospective study involving 250 Tenckhoff catheter insertions by 6 nephrologists.
