Summary

Bacterial septicaemia in rabbits caused severe neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and hypoxaemia. Complement activation, indicated by C5a levels, correlated with endotoxin and lung granulocyte accumulation, suggesting their importance in septicaemia severity.
