Summary

Vulvar vestibular papillomatosis is a benign anatomical variant of the vulva. Correctly identifying these papules prevents misdiagnosis as warts, avoiding unnecessary treatments.

  • Vulvar vestibular papillomatosis (VVP) is a common, benign anatomical variant.
  • Distinguishing VVP from genital warts is crucial to prevent unnecessary therapies.

Observation:

  • A 29-year-old woman presented with a two-year history of asymptomatic vulvar growths.
  • Examination revealed translucent, skin-colored papules on the vestibule and labia minora, resembling pearly penile papules.
  • Histopathology showed finger-like projections of subdermal tissue covered by normal epithelium, with no koilocytes.

Findings:

  • Biopsy confirmed vulvar vestibular papillomatosis.
  • The absence of koilocytes ruled out human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
