Haemophilus influenzae epiglottitis occurring simultaneously in two siblings.

Summary

Simultaneous Haemophilus influenzae type B epiglottitis in siblings is reported. This case highlights the importance of vaccination and chemoprophylaxis in preventing secondary and primary Haemophilus influenzae type B infections.

Intrafamilial spread of Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) is well-documented for meningitis.
Hib epiglottitis transmission within families is rarely reported.
