High-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels are linked to a lower risk of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in men. Current treatments lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) may not prevent AAA development.

- HDL appears to be a key lipid predictor for AAA development and a potential therapeutic target.
- Current cardiovascular strategies focusing on lowering LDL may not impact AAA prevention.
