[Incidence of refraction errors in Polish physicians]

An extensive inquiry sheet comprising between others questions on refraction had been sent by post to doctors chosen by chance. The incidence of myopia in the general population was estimated on 23.1-27.7 p.c. in men and 26.0-34.4 p.c. in women. The incidence of hyperopia--distinctly dependent on the age of the addressee--was 1/3 smaller; astigmatism showed to be the least frequent. No essential connection between the kind of error and the anthropometric characteristics, morbidity and the type of personality was found.
