The family practitioner in a multi-specialty group: obstetrics
Abstract:
It is evident that there is today a shortage of medical manpower in general practice and that the situation would appear to be a progressive one, because there is an increasing demand from the patients for the services of the family physician. While there can be no one neat and simple solution to this complex problem, analysis of the situation as it pertains to a multi-specialty medical centre or clinic suggests that doctors might well delegate certain duties to properly trained and supervised nurses, nurse-midwives and allied health personnel in the field of obstetrics.
