Community health centres: an overview of the experience

Impressions of five physicians with community-sponsored health care experience are pooled to explore the physicians' view of quality of care, accountability, credibility and autonomy within such centres. At present there is no research to validate impressions, but differences in patient profile, style of practice and office management are suggested. Future research areas include investigation of reasons for physician turnover, exploration of the legal implications of board accountability and development of standards to measure CHC success.
