[Legg-calvé-perthes disease - contemporary diagnostic possibilities.]
Abstract:
The authors give a review of imaging techniques used at present in the diagnosis and follow-up of changes in Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. Based on data in the literature and their own experince, the authors draw attention to the advantages and disadvantages of different diagnostic methods. They discuss possibilities of different imaging techniques in the early diagnosis of the disease. In their opinion a high-standard X-ray examination is still the basic examination. A suitable supplement in particular in a early stages are sonographic, scintigraphic and magnetic resonance examinations. Key words: diagnosis of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, X-ray examination, sonography, scintigraphy, magnetic resonance.
