The real role of risk assessment in cancer risk management

Regulatory actions taken to reduce the risk of harmful effects of exposure to chemicals often are not commensurate with the toxicological risk assessment. A number of factors relating to psychology, sociology, economics and politics rather than science and medicine affect the final decision.
