    Area of Science:

    • Optics and Photonics
    • Materials Science
    • Polymer Chemistry

    Background:

    • Holography and interference gratings require sensitive recording media.
    • Dry polymer systems offer advantages in handling and stability over wet-chemical processes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate a novel dry polymeric mixture for recording optical gratings and holograms.
    • To determine the material's sensitivity and diffraction efficiency.
    • To assess the feasibility of different readout and fixing methods.

    Main Methods:

    • A dry polymeric mixture sensitized with a red dye was used.
    • Interference gratings and holograms were recorded using laser exposure.
    • Diffraction efficiency was measured.
    • Fixing was performed using mercury lamp light.

    Main Results:

    • The red-sensitive dry polymer successfully recorded interference gratings and holograms.
    • Achieved diffraction efficiencies of approximately 10%.
    • Required exposure energy of approximately 94 mJ/cm(2).

    Conclusions:

    • The developed dry polymer is a viable medium for holographic and interference grating recording.
    • The material exhibits good sensitivity and diffraction efficiency.
    • Flexible readout options, including post-fixation, are available.
