[Cytochrome oxidase activity in diabetes mellitus]

The results of study of the activity of cytochromeoxidase in the blood formed elements in 84 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus before and after the treatment are presented. In patients with the primarily detected disease the activity of the enzyme was reduced, and in its prolonged course--it was elevated. A tendency to normalization of the enzyme activity was noted as a result of treatment in all the forms of the course of the disease; however, the interstitial metabolism failed to become restored completely.
