Thoracoscopic chest wall resection: what is its role?

Background:

• Thoracoscopic pulmonary lobectomy is increasingly favored due to lower complication rates and improved patient quality of life.
• The efficacy of more complex thoracoscopic procedures, particularly those involving chest wall resection, remains largely unexplored.

Purpose of the Study:

• To evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of thoracoscopic lobectomy with en bloc chest wall resection for lung cancer.
• To assess the perioperative morbidity and oncologic results of this advanced thoracoscopic technique.

• Three patients with lung cancer and chest wall extension underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy with en bloc chest wall resection between January 2007 and April 2009.
