Summary

Orbital cavernomas can be misdiagnosed. Histologic evaluation is crucial as haemorrhagic lymphangiomas and other vascular tumors can mimic cavernomas, ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment.

  • Two misdiagnosed cases were haemorrhagic lymphangiomas, and one was a solitary fibrous tumour.
  • Clinical and macroscopic findings were consistent with cavernomas in these misdiagnosed cases.
  • Conclusions:

    • Haemorrhagic lymphangiomas and other vascular tumors can closely mimic orbital cavernomas.
    • Accurate histopathological evaluation is essential for definitive diagnosis of orbital vascular lesions.
    • Distinguishing these entities is critical for appropriate patient management and treatment outcomes.
