Memorization-Based Training and Testing Paradigm for Robust Vocal Identity Recognition in Expressive Speech Using Event-Related Potentials Analysis

High turnover and attrition rates are significant concerns in the allied health sector.
Understanding the specific drivers of workforce exit is crucial for retention strategies.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the factors influencing intent to leave among Australian speech pathologists.
To differentiate reasons for seeking new employment versus leaving the profession entirely.

Main Methods:

Utilized psychometrically-sound assessment tools and logistic regression analyses.
Collected data from 620 Australian speech pathologists via questionnaires.

Main Results:

Intent to change jobs correlated with younger age (<34), perceived low job security, and fewer perceived professional benefits.
Intent to leave the profession linked to high administrative workload (>50% of time), higher negative affect scores, no dependent children, and unmet professional needs.

Conclusions:

Identifies distinct demographic and professional factors associated with speech pathologists' intentions to leave their jobs or the profession.
Provides evidence to inform targeted interventions for retaining skilled allied health professionals in speech pathology.
