Summary

A novel technique uses a corneal graft and biological glue to seal large sterile corneal melts, avoiding sutures and emergency surgery. This method provides tectonic support and improves vision in affected patients.

Observation:

  • Two patients with sterile corneal melts (3-5 mm) were treated.
  • A full-thickness patch graft, prepared with a dermatological trephine, was used.

Findings:

  • The graft was secured using fibrin-aprotinin biological tissue adhesive, eliminating the need for sutures.
  • The corneal defects were effectively sealed, providing tectonic support.
  • Postoperative best-corrected visual acuity improved to 6/24 in both patients.
