Background:

  • Fibrin degradation products D-dimer (D-dimer) are crucial biomarkers for thrombotic diseases.
  • Secondary fibrinolysis often accompanies thrombotic conditions, necessitating accurate diagnostic markers.
  • Understanding the relationship between D-dimer and other fibrinolysis markers is vital for clinical application.

Observation:

  • A strong linear correlation (r = 0.9269) was found between FDP-E and D-dimer concentrations in 630 patient samples.
  • Thirteen cases exhibited significant dissociation between D-dimer and FDP-E levels.
  • Group A (4 cases) showed higher D-dimer than expected, while Group B (9 cases) showed lower D-dimer than expected.

Findings:

  • All Group A patients were diagnosed with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
