[The B-BS applied to the analysis of risks in working with third parties]

Abstract:
Practical implementation of Skinner's behavioral studies--according to Terry McSween's studies on B-BS, introduced in Italy by prof. F. Tosolin--has different application areas in safety. Its application to risks assessment helped the HSE managers to detect and estimate risks, to analyse unsafe behavior and to plan correct safety measures in third party processes, far from headquarters and not under the direct control of the organization. The workers themselves analyse the safe / unsafe behaviors through checklist and suggest the correct procedures. This technique is particularly effective for the evaluation of risks relating to works that are held at third party sites, in environments not directly controlled by the organization, characterized by diverse situations and procedures. In such environments workers are forced to behave unsafely because of several factors that are not under their control. The application of traditional risk assessment techniques is poorly effective.
