Summary

The 2-port laparoscopic technique provides a safe and effective method for ventral and incisional hernia repair. This study demonstrates its feasibility and efficiency in a large patient cohort.

Background:

Traditional open hernia repair methods are increasingly being replaced by minimally invasive techniques.
Laparoscopic approaches offer potential advantages in recovery and complication rates.

Purpose of the Study:

To document and evaluate the 2-port laparoscopic technique for ventral and incisional hernia repair.
To establish the feasibility, efficiency, and safety of this minimally invasive approach.

Main Methods:

Laparoscopic repair using a 2-port technique was performed on 40 patients with ventral or incisional hernias.
The technique utilized a single 10-12 mm balloon port and a 5 mm port, with mesh secured by sutures and helical fasteners.

Clinical Application of Single-Surgeon, Three-Port, Laparoscopic Resection for Colorectal Cancer with Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction

Main Results:

Forty-seven hernias were repaired in 40 patients, with operative times ranging from 15 to 70 minutes.
Early complications included enterotomy, small bowel obstruction, wound infection, and seroma. Late complications involved persistent pain in 20% of patients. One recurrence was noted during follow-up.

Conclusions:

The 2-port laparoscopic technique is an efficient, safe, and effective method for repairing ventral and incisional hernias.
This approach represents a viable minimally invasive option for hernia surgery.
