Introduction:
Growth hormone therapy has been used in Poland for over 40 years. Normal final height and the increase of IGF1 prove the effectiveness of the treatment.
The Aim Of The Study:
The degree of GH deficiency influences the result of the therapy.
Results:
In children with somatotropic pituitary hypofunction treated with growth hormone an increase of growth velocity, IGF1 and bone age was observed. It was observed that the best effect the therapy obtained in the first year. The difference in body height, growth velocity, IGF1 and bone age between children with total and partial somatotropic pituitary hypofunction was statistically not significant. The average height of parents of children with partial somatotropic pituitary hypofunction was lower than that of parents of children with total somatotropic pituitary hypofunction.
