Acute closed rupture of EHL revisited
1Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics, Southern General Hospital, 1345 Govan Road, Glasgow G51 4TF, UK. bonecutter@doctors.net.uk
Abstract:
Isolated closed injuries to the EHL are rare. Traumatic closed rupture of EHL in the absence of diabetes mellitus, arthritis or local steroid injections is hitherto unreported. We present a case of closed EHL rupture after a hyperflexion injury to the interphalangeal joint of the big toe, successfully managed with surgery, along with review of existing literature.
