Acute Responses to High-Intensity Intermittent Exercise in CHD Patients

High-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) was well tolerated and preferred by patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) over moderate-intensity continuous exercise (MICE). HIIE demonstrated greater efficiency and lower perceived exertion without causing myocardial injury.

- HIIE is a well-tolerated and potentially more efficient exercise modality for stable CHD patients compared to MICE.
- The findings support the consideration of HIIE protocols in cardiac rehabilitation programs for selected CHD patients.
- HIIE offers a safe alternative with improved patient adherence due to reduced perceived exertion.
