Pregnancy associated with recurrent acromegaly: a case report

Pregnancy in women with acromegaly, a rare endocrine disorder, is possible after treatment. However, pregnancy can trigger a recurrence of acromegaly, even after successful surgery.

- She later conceived and delivered, experiencing a recurrence of acromegaly and tumor regrowth.
Findings:
- The patient presented with symptoms of acromegaly, including menorrhagia and facial changes.
- Biochemical tests confirmed acromegaly, leading to transsphenoidal macroadenectomy.
- Postpartum, recurrence of acromegaly and tumor regrowth were confirmed by imaging and biochemical tests.
Implications:
- Pregnancy is achievable in acromegalic women post-treatment.
- Pregnancy can provoke a recurrence of acromegaly.
- Close monitoring is essential for pregnant women with a history of acromegaly.
