Summary

Laparoscopy-assisted transduodenal papillectomy (LATDP) offers a less invasive alternative to open surgery for major duodenal papilla resections. This technique is a feasible option, especially when endoscopic snare resection (ESR) is not readily available.

Area of Science:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Surgical Oncology
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery

Background:

  • Major duodenal papilla cancers typically require pancreatoduodenectomy, while adenomas/carcinomas in adenoma warrant limited resection.
  • Endoscopic snare resection (ESR) is a limited resection technique but requires specialized endoscopic skills.
  • Laparoscopy-assisted transduodenal papillectomy (LATDP) was developed as an alternative to address limitations of ESR.
