The integrity of authorship: doing the right thing
Abstract:
Submissions to peer-reviewed publications sometimes involve contributions that are financed by industry in ways that that could interfere with the objectivity of the submission. The authors of this commentary consider it essential that all submissions to peer-reviewed journals be accompanied by full acknowledgements of such contributions so as to insure that those involved in the editorial process as well as the readers of the final published version of an article are fully informed regarding any relationship that could influence objectivity. The authors examined the balance between industry support of a publication and the integrity of authorship.
