Abstract:
Tongue-based flaps have proved to be satisfactory for closing palatal defects. The bulk of grafted tissue, however, may present problems for the prosthodontist in construction of removable partial dentures. These problems include lack of space and denture support and physical properties of the graft. Careful design of the denture is needed to optimize available space and support. An impression technique that allows differential loading of parts of the oral mucosa is described.
