Summary

Progressive treadmill tests offer more reliable assessments of peripheral vascular occlusive disease (PVOD) severity than single-stage tests. Clinical measurements, including claudication pain and hemodynamic data, show higher reliability during progressive testing for better patient evaluation.

  • To evaluate the reliability of claudication pain and hemodynamic measurements in PVOD patients.
  • To determine which treadmill protocol better assesses PVOD severity.

  • Ten stable PVOD patients underwent both S and P treadmill tests bi-monthly for 4 months.
  • Measurements included claudication onset distance, maximal walking distance, foot oxygen tension (TcPO2), ankle systolic blood pressure (SBP), and ankle-to-brachial index (ABI).
