This rise in transparency leads to a significant increase in manuscript volume, challenging journals and sponsors.
Efficient manuscript submission processes and suitable publication venues are needed.

Purpose of the Study:

To address the challenges posed by increased manuscript volume and enhance transparency in publishing industry-sponsored research.
To foster collaboration between the pharmaceutical industry and biomedical journals.
To develop educational resources for authors to improve manuscript preparation and submission.

Main Methods:

The Medical Publishing Insights and Practices (MPIP) initiative was founded in 2008.
MPIP roundtable meetings brought together journal editors, publishers, and industry representatives.
An Authors' Submission Toolkit was developed based on identified best practices.

Main Results:

Stakeholders identified opportunities to streamline submission processes and requirements.
A need for enhanced author education on manuscript preparation and submission was recognized.
