Epithelial or mesenchymal: Where to draw the line?

Commonly used epithelial and mesenchymal cell markers are not reliable for distinguishing cell types, as most are expressed in both. Researchers should use caution when interpreting cell marker data for epithelial-mesenchymal transition studies.
