Summary

Genetic variants in SNAP-25, a key protein in synaptic transmission, were studied for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Chinese Han subjects. While no overall association was found, one specific SNAP-25 marker linked to ADHD subtypes.

  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent childhood behavioral disorder.
  • Genetic factors, particularly dopamine pathway genes, are implicated in ADHD etiology.
  • Synaptosomal-associated protein, 25 kDa (SNAP-25) plays a crucial role in synaptic transmission and has been previously associated with ADHD.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between specific genetic variants of SNAP-25 and ADHD in a Chinese Han population.
  • To analyze the relationship between SNAP-25 marker alleles and ADHD symptom severity.
  • To determine if SNAP-25 is a genetic susceptibility factor for ADHD in this cohort.

  • Characterization of two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs: rs362549, rs363006) and one microsatellite in the SNAP-25 gene.
