Purpose of the Study:

  • To maximize the sensitivity of bovine tuberculosis detection in living wild fallow deer.
  • To evaluate the diagnostic performance of the rapid test (RT) compared to the comparative cervical skin test (CCT).
  • To determine the optimal strategy for bTB surveillance in wild fallow deer populations.

  • 134 wild fallow deer were tested using avian and bovine purified protein derivative (PPD) skin tests and a rapid test (RT).
  • Skin fold thickness was measured 72 hours post-injection.
