Aim:
To detect the role of activated protein C(APC) on proliferation of endothelial cell and investigate the expression of endothelial protein C receptor( EPCR) in variety of tumor cell lines.
Methods:
The effect of APC on endotheliocyte proliferation was determined by MTT colorimetry. IL-6 and IL-8 in supernatant were measured by ELISA. Expression of EPCR were measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.
Results:
APC can increase the proliferation of EC significantly. EPCR gene was found in 91.7% of solid tumors and 66.7% of hematopoietic malignancies.
Conclusion:
APC can stimulate the proliferation of endothelial cell. High expression of EPCR in tumor cell lines provides a potential biological marker for malignancies.
