Surgical interns experienced low confidence and anxiety in job tasks. An extended orientation program significantly improved their confidence, with lasting effects demonstrated at 1-month follow-up.

Surgical interns often lack preparedness and experience anxiety regarding job-related tasks.
This can negatively impact their performance during internship.

Purpose of the Study:

To demonstrate the necessity of expanded instruction for surgical interns' daily tasks.
To evaluate if an enriched orientation curriculum can durably enhance intern confidence.

Main Methods:

Twenty-one surgical interns underwent an extended orientation with interactive didactics, case scenarios, and discussions.
Confidence levels were assessed pre-orientation, immediately post-orientation, and at 1-month follow-up.

Main Results:

Interns reported low confidence in job tasks before the program.
