Summary

Endoscopic parathyroidectomy for parathyroid adenoma is a feasible treatment in Bangladesh. This minimally invasive surgery offers excellent cosmetic results and quick patient recovery.

Observation:

  • Two patients underwent successful endoscopic parathyroidectomy for parathyroid adenoma.
  • The procedure utilized three ports, a 10 mm telescope, and a harmonic scalpel.
  • This represents the first reported case of endoscopic parathyroidectomy in Bangladesh.

Findings:

  • Both patients experienced rapid recovery, with feeding on the first postoperative day and discharge on the 4th and 8th days.
  • Parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels dropped significantly within 12-20 minutes after adenoma enucleation.
  • The surgery demonstrated technical feasibility and excellent cosmetic outcomes.
